The Royal Parks
Food Service Associates have worked with The Royal Parks for nine years. Initially, appointed to monitor catering services within Hyde Park, the contract was extended in 1997 to include all catering and leisure concessions within the ten London Royal Parks, thirty three concessions in total. Under the contract terms Food Service Associates has a responsibility to provide ongoing advisory services to the organisation. This has ranged from contract monitoring to strategic planning. Contract monitoring included measuring customer service standards, inspecting premises for compliance with Health and Safety and Food Safety Legislation and conducting financial audits to ensure the correct reporting of turnover figures for concession payments. In 2000 the Company assisted the Agency in completing a Best Value Review of Catering Provision in the Parks. Through consultation with the key stakeholders, the current services and facilities were evaluated and recommendations were drawn up providing future strategic direction for catering within the parks. These recommendations are now being implemented under a long term action plan as contracts are renewed. Food Service Associates has also assisted in successfully retendering eight of the Parks' contracts, most of which required substantial private capital investment in the Restaurant and Leisure facilities. We have recently assisted the Royal Parks in tendering the contract to manage a new £2 million restaurant facility in St. James's Park. The contract has been let to a high profile restaurateur with the specific aim of changing the emphasis of catering in the Park from a low price, high volume, self service cafeteria to a high quality, market targeted restaurant offer. Over the nine year period that Food Service Associates has worked with the Royal Parks customer standards and turnover levels have improved significantly. |
